The Finance Supervisor position has overall responsibility and accountability to understand and communicate the financial position of their respective sales channel.  The role is also responsible for providing financial support to the VP/GM of the sales channel by creating and maintaining periodic reports that analyze and communicate actual performance and the implications of ongoing business decisions as well as forecasting future performance.  The Finance Supervisor position is the critical link between the sales, marketing, and product line operations groups and provides valuable insight on a daily basis to the financial performance through its analysis and reporting.  The Finance Supervisor position will report through the Commercial Finance group but take day-to-day direction from the assigned Sales Leader(s) and will funnel information through the finance organization to the Channel organizations, ensuring one consistent approach/method is used across the Sector.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Supervise and provide day to day support/guidance to team
  • Provide full year volume, sales, spend, and gross profit forecast updates on a monthly basis
  • Conduct detailed analysis related to sales spend and ROI
  • Provide monthly and ad hoc variance analysis to forecast, budget, and prior year for assigned sales channel
  • Conduct in-depth customer profitability analysis for strategic multi-customer growth channel
  • Manage multi-customer volume rebate, promotional spend, and SPIFF programs to determine the proper timing for accounting and recognition
  • Promotional Spending Analysis to identify the profitability of a given program, whether a proposed program has been appropriately budgeted (or if its costs can be otherwise absorbed), and/or to identify expected/required volume lifts a given program should generate
  • Preparation of timely and accurate financial reports to management, such as Volume-Price-Mix analysis, quarterly account reconciliations, and profitability analysis
  • Monthly KPI reporting and tracking vs plan and development of corrective action plans 
  • Interpretation and communication of financial performance, implications, recommendations
  • Month-end closing responsibility to include Journal Entries and Account Reconciliations
  • Pricing and cost analysis – impact on volumes and margins
  • Profitability analysis of specific products and programs
  • Lead Various ad-hoc analysis and continuous improvement efforts
  • Assist as needed with Internal and External Audits

Minimum Qualification

  • Bachelor Degree in Finance, Accounting or Business
  • 6-8 years of business or financial analytics experience

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES 

  • Experience partnering with and advising senior management of financial and business strategies
  • Ability to draw insights and influence business decisions
  • Track record of people development 
  • Experience supporting a sales function a plus
  • Financial analysis experience including sales trends analysis, customer and consumer marketing analysis
  • Strong analytical, planning, and organizational skills
  • Solid understanding of accounting and financial concepts
  • Experience working with and advising senior management of financial and business strategies
  • Highly motivated / Driven / Proactive approach to business needs
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to adjust/react quickly to changes and changing priorities
  • Unquestionable business ethics and integrity
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • SAP and JD Edwards experience preferred
