Do you want to go beyond leading the Electronic Technology Organization in our Global R&D Food Preparation agenda and inspire new experiences for millions of people?

Our Technology branch of the Global R&D Food Preparation organization consists of five technologies:  Electronics, Gas, Induction, Steam and Microwave. We are looking for a person who will bring our Electronic & Controls department forward with innovative and new ideas. 

Common objectives between the regions have to be identified in order to best utilize existing control systems, the development of new systems as well as to be efficient with the use of resources. Their objective will also be to maintain and communicate consistent understanding of the consumer benefits and technical boundaries of the technologies being developed. The efforts of this group is to ultimately increase speed to market, innovation and utilization of best design practices to optimize Electrolux build quality and technical prowess worldwide as it relates to user experience of the various cooking technologies.

The team

You will be leading an international team of 100 people distributed in all regions of Global R&D.
This team provides R&D capabilities to all four regions – Asia Pacific, Latin America, North America and Europe.

The impact
The Electronic Technology Organization Director will be responsible for the electronics/controls portion of this Global Technology Organization, responsible for the development of user-interfaces and power boards for ovens/cookers and cooktops. 
• Lead the Electronic Technology Organization to serve the technical needs of all four Generation Plans.  
• Work closely with the regional and global product lines to ensure the needs of the organization can be met with in-house solutions.
• Identify common regional needs throughout the globe and take a global approach to those projects. Ensure clear specifications by region and develop common technology architecture to deliver to the needs of all regions without penalizing one for the other.
• Develop controls to enable relevant consumer benefits and provide best-in-class user experiences through UIs and other control enablers
• Ensure annual cost-out and quality improvement targets are met, whilst instilling a cost-conscious and quality focused mindset throughout the development of new controls 
• Grow the global organization as it relates to efficiency, discipline and process rigor without losing sight of short-term deliverables, including continuous improvements for cost, quality and processes
• Develop the organization’s Technology Roadmap, based on regional requirements, innovation creation processes and emerging technologies especially as identified by the other Technology and Advanced Development teams
• Represent Food Preparation in the Electronics Governance Board to define global initiatives and electronics strategy direction
• Ensure close alignment with the GC&T, particularly the Electronics Competence Center and the IoT Product Technology team
• Remove roadblocks. This individual must understand and predict the needs of the global organization to remove obstacles to productivity and success.  
• Evaluate, campaign for, and procure the appropriate necessary capital for equipment needed for labs and expanding internal R&D capabilities.  
• Be a coach and a change agent. Communicate the vision of the organization, its successes and progress to your peers and colleagues.
• Motivate and grow the team in a global environment, guaranteeing the proper global mindset and approach.

Who are you:
• Several years of proven experience in managing large engineering teams, preferably electronic development teams that conceive and develop systems, preferably in a consumer appliance product R&D environment.
• The candidate must possess an international mindset with proven experience in working within multiple regions and with multiple cultures.  
• Ability to interact and communicate with different cultures that have different languages. This individual should see this diversity as an asset to the organization and an enabler of progress rather than a difficulty to overcome.  
• The candidate should be an excellent facilitator, who can find compromise and bring direction when differences arise.
• This individual cannot have preconceived notions or paradigms as to how things should be accomplished. They must have the courage to question the status quo and they have to be a change agent.
• Familiarity with EN, IEC, UL, CSA standards especially as they relate to consumer appliances.
• Ability to translate non-technical consumer benefits and use cases/user stories into specific technical requirements.
• Strong communications skills both written and oral, in a multi-cultural environment with the ability to effectively communicate with technical and non-technical audiences
• Demonstrated leadership ability in a multi-cultural, multi-regional work environment.
• Self-motivated and results driven
• Willingness to travel

Minimum requirements:
• University degree in Electrical/Electronics or Software Engineering.  A secondary degree is considered a plus.  
• English language
