Electronics Manager – Rothenburg ob der Tauber, Germany

As Electronics Manager you will responsible for managing a team of Engineers and Lab Technicians that design and develop new and innovative electronic devices for cooking appliances from conceptualization through production.  You will work in concert with all R&D management to insure cohesive alignment to R&D Food Preparation program goals, objectives, policies and procedures. And perform all associated administrative functions such as resource planning, performance appraisals, and planning/organization of projects. 


• Lead the electronics team of project leaders, software engineers and hardware engineers to achieve the goals and projects required for successful platform launches within cooking.  
• Must be able to grow the organization as it relates to efficiency, discipline and process rigor without losing sight of short-term deliverables.  
• Provide leadership in developing detailed engineering materials including block diagrams, schematics, fabrication and assembly drawings, component drawings, specifications, source code, compiled firmware, manuals and other customer documentation, development and test procedures, Engineering Change Notices and manufacturing procedures.
• Estimate task durations and assists with the preparation of project schedules and product cost estimate including costed BOM’s.
• Exhibit appropriate professional behavior including positive attitude, sense of urgency, independent judgment, teamwork, creative thinking and personal integrity to achieve department/corporate goals and objectives.
• Works with outside consultants, suppliers and contract manufacturers to develop and manufacture electronic components and assemblies. 
• Work closely with Purchasing and Quality to investigate, qualify, select and manage electronics suppliers.
• Manage day to day direction of assigned staff including assigning project work and evaluating daily work performance.
• Sets goals of assigned resources and conduct performance reviews.
• Be responsible for project budgets and reports budget status to R&D Management as required.
• Help develop departmental policies and procedures and insures consistency of said policies and procedures.
• Work with other departmental managers to insure adherence to goals and objectives through sound management principles.
• Work with R&D Management in allocation of department resources to insure project timeliness and success.
• Work with production and manufacturing to insure alignment between engineering and plant operations on current and future development.
• Proactively resolve engineering issues.
• Develop a team spirit within the engineering team. 
• Coaching of associates in development of technical and project skills.
• Remove Roadblocks.  Understand and predict the needs of the department so as to remove obstacles to productivity and success.  
• Evaluate campaign for, and appropriate necessary capital for equipment needed for labs and expanding internal design capabilities.

• Bachelor/Master degree electronic engineering or computer science or similar hardware related education.
• Min 5 years experience in managing electronic teams that conceive and develop embedded hardware/software controls and control systems, preferably in a consumer appliance product R&D environment.
• Design/programming experience of electronic systems.
• Proficient in understanding schematic and circuit design layouts.
• Familiar with ANSI, UL, CSA, NEMA and IEC standards especially as they relate to consumer appliance products is a plus.
• Ability to translate non-technical user requirements into specific technical solutions.
• Skilled in technical writing.
• Demonstrated leadership ability 
• Willing to travel.
• Fluent English mandatory.
