The Industrial Engineering Lead manages the Industrial Engineering team within the Manufacturing Engineering Department. This position is responsible for developing and maintaining production processes that meet and exceed expectations of capacity, cost, safety, and scrap rate, start-up/ change-over time and customer requirements.  This position will provide the leadership required to establish continuous improvement in operations. This position will use good judgement and skill in troubleshooting root-causes and implementing corrective measures to chronic issues with meeting production targets.  The individual should be proficient in time studies to develop productivity targets and be able to implement the latest productivity systems, plant layout and material flow.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES

  • Provide leadership to Industrial Engineering team by setting expected performance levels and taking action to reward, develop, coach, and counsel
  • Create a work environment that encourages creative thinking and stresses accountability
  • Define the sequence of manufacturing process including material flow, line balance and assembly method for operators, as well as the calculation of the standard hours for new products
  • Determine the capacity of production and process
  • Improve production processes through application of lean manufacturing techniques to reduce waste, costs and increase the quality
  • Ergonomic studies and work station design
  • Understand and utilize 5S, 7 Waste, VSM AND Problem Solving
  • Develop and implement effective work place layouts for the facility on introduction and implementation of projects, using AutoCAD
  • Support the project team through the timely assessment and acquisition of tools tooling/fixtures, storage equipment, and material handling equipment
  • Provide Industrial Engineering expertise to projects as assigned
  • Cost justification and accountability
  • Process and equipment specification, procurement and implementation
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualification

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field is required
  • At least 5 years’ experience required in Industrial and Mechanical systems. Experience in packaging, layouts, conveying and product handling a plus
  • Appliance or similar product assembly experience
  • Supervisory experience of professional staff required
  • Proficient in Office Products (Excel, Word and PowerPoint)
