This is an engaging, learning experience for a current student. Our program will utilize academic knowledge and develop capabilities in the areas of purchasing and project management. 

This opportunity will build professional confidence as it entails a high level of responsibility and direct work within our manufacturing plant as this person will communicate with the purchasing team. engineers, material team, suppliers, etc. The completion of the program will give each participant substantial knowledge and over a year's worth of on the job experience. 

This is a three term rotational program.

  • First Term:
  • The Co-Op should learn the fundamentals of how Electrolux does business.
    • External Learning Areas – Sales and Service (optionally used as filler time if needed)
      • Call Center
      • Service Calls
      • Warehouse/Inventory
      • Field Test
    • Internal Learning Areas:
      • Electronics Lab 
      • Chemical/ Material/ Testing Labs 
      • Material Control 
      • Quality 
      • Engineering (Individual by Buyer)
      • Manufacturing (Individual by Buyer)
      • Finance  (Individual by Buyer)
      • Advanced Purchasing (gate reviews) 
      • Total Cost Analysis
      • Customs training
  • Training opportunities in the following:
    • Design for Manufacturing, Assembly, Safety, etc. – EMS training
    • Systems
      • WOWs (work order system)
      • ECNs (Engineering changes)
      • Purchasing Handbook (as applicable)
  • Manufacturing exposure:
    • Tour of the manufacturing facility
    • Assist in trial builds on the assembly line as needed and with Product Care Engineer
  • Involved in Teardowns as available
  • Local supplier visits (with Purchasing Agent)
  • Visit the off-site warehouse
  • Customs Training
  • Project Scope – Minor
    The Co-Op should have several small projects to complete through the term. The mentor should monitor the progress and provide support and feedback as needed. 
  • There should be formal weekly meetings for follow-up and feedback.
  • Throughout the term, the Co-Op should be preparing material for their end of term presentation.
  • The Co-Op will make a presentation at the end of the term describing their work and experience.  
  • Provide feedback at end of term, letting the Co-Op know what they have done well and areas they could improve.
  • Remedial work as required (testing, Mfg. support, etc.)

  • Second Term:
  • Develop with the mentor a list of projects that are to be completed during term 2.
    • Design projects
    • Manufacturing projects
    • Development projects
  • Project scope: small – medium 
  • Lead projects with assistance from mentor/manager
  • Develop test plans and assist at DVR Board.
  • Work with test labs performing test.
  • Work with Model Shop to build and develop working prototypes.
  • Utilize training from the previous term.
  • Assist with EPM (Electrolux Project Management) gates.
  • Develop business cases for all related projects including ECNs.
  • There should be formal weekly meetings for follow-up and feedback.
  • Throughout the term, the Co-Op should be preparing material for their end of term presentation.
  • Provide feedback at end of term, letting the Co-Op know what they have done well and areas they could improve. Let the Co-Op know how they performed compared to last term.
  • Remedial work as required (testing, Mfg. support, etc.)

  • Shadow trial builds on the assembly line  (with Product Care Engineer)

  • Third Term:
  • The Co-Op will have the option to move to another group.
  • Develop with mentor a list of projects to be completed during term 3.
    • Design projects
    • Manufacturing projects
    • Development projects
  • Project scope: medium
  • Lead projects with assistance from mentor/manager
  • Develop test plans and present at DVR Board.
  • Work with Model Shop to build and develop working prototypes.
  • Utilize training from previous term.
  • Assist with EPM (Electrolux Project management) gates.
  • Develop business cases for all related projects including ECNs.
  • Formal weekly meetings for follow-up and feedback.

    • DVR (Validation testing)
    • PPAP (Production Part Approval)

Minimum Qualification

  • Full time enrollment in university
  • Sophomore / Junior status
  • Minimum 2.75 GPA
