The Central Manufacturing Engineer, Dish and Fabric Care is a key position within Electrolux Major Appliance. This position reports to the Director –Manufacturing Engineering, Dish and Fabric Care, and is responsible for leading all Product/Process Development activities regarding Manufacturing Engineering and Operations for the assigned Dish and Fabric Care product platform, from the Product Generation Plan / Technology Roadmap to Production start.  The position will ensure the optimum, standard, and most flexible manufacturing processes required for the production of each specific product platform.  The current open position is geared towards expertise in specialized automated equipment, assembly operations, and stamping operations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide Manufacturing Engineering input to Marketing and Dish and Fabric Care Product Engineering regarding modularity, architecture, product standardization, product development timing requirements, and late product differentiation to facilitate manufacturing flexibility, standardization, asset velocity, and variable cost reduction
  • Modularity Implementation in body; Drum and tub modules (among others)
  • Standardization and Flexible Manufacturing Process related to specialized automated equipment
  • Drive automation initiatives in Dish and Fabric Care platforms 
  • Lead the optimization activities for several of the manufacturing processes within Manufacturing Operations, Dish and Fabric Care listed below, and plan and implement these into all existing, and new, plant product and process designs
  • Machinery Safety/Guarding, Ergonomics knowledge
  • Sheet metal stamping/fabrication (stainless and carbon steel)
  • Automated assembly equipment for sheet metal cabinet/drum
  • Joining systems (Tox®, welding, adhesives, fasteners) and reduction methods
  • Wire rod processing (straighten/cut, form, projection weld)
  • Automated stamping presses including transfer systems

  • Partner with Purchasing with specific focus on required invested capital for Dish and Fabric Care product manufacturing operations for your assigned processes and product platforms

Minimum Qualification

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience. 
  • Plant operations experience strongly desired.
  • New Product Introduction from DS to Saleable Product experience strongly desired
  • Multi-plant/product experience
  • Plant manufacturing engineering/maintenance leadership experience
  • Proven record of success leading product and equipment/facility launches, along with long-term continuous improvement
  • Strategic and creative leadership abilities, and operational responsibilities at plant or operating level
  • Experience with and commitment to lean manufacturing concepts
  • Possess a high sense of urgency with the ability to make and implement tough and timely decisions
  • Demonstrated leadership capability, change leader and driving project success individually and through teams.
