Development Tools Competency Leader  – Open Location 

As Development Tools Competency Leader you will be leading global, cross-product line teams of R&D engineers in developing tools that facilitate the efficient development, qualification, and maintenance of electronic control systems for consumer appliances. As an integral member of Global Electronics Competences Center (GECC), which is belonging to Global Connectivity & Technology (GC&T) organization, you will provide the technical leadership and expertise in the creation and maintenance of development tools utilized across all product categories. For this job requisition, the preferred location is Porcia (Italy), but you can be based in one of the Electrolux R&D and GC&T facilities.

Key operational responsibilities

• Creation of cross product line working teams consisting of subject matter experts from the various R&Ds with focus on customized development tools to aid in the development and testing of electronics controls and overall appliance level qualifications.
• Identification of existing best practices inside the company in the area of development tools.
• Understand and recognize the needs/requirements of all product categories in terms of development tools.
• Leading cross-product line teams to standardize development tools based on identified best practices.
• Continuously improve the standard development methodologies through monitoring emerging ways of working and tools used across various industries.
• Utilize the cross-product line working teams to identify requirements, specifications, and test methods/procedures that need custom development tools creation.
• Negotiation and conflict resolution in cross-product line working for teams in order to maintain progress and realize the optimal solutions for the business.
• Create a plan for developing and standardizing development tools including prioritization, resource needs, and schedule estimates.
• Development of metrics and KPIs for development tools that can be utilized to understand our current maturity level and give indicators how to continuously improve.
• Lead the evaluation to understand which PC based software development platforms can be best used for the creation of our development tools. This is to be an ongoing process.
• Periodic and regular communications of the development tools strategy, technology updates, accomplishments, and next steps to all in the electronics development community.
• Provide training to the various R&D and Technology organizations that will utilize these development tools to increase their understanding, proficiency, and rate of usage while also collecting feedback for further enhancements on an ongoing basis.
• Maintain and develop a high level of alignment with technology partners, advanced purchasing, product lines and the global technology organization.
• Work and collaborate in an international environment with multiple global and regional product teams, competence centres and experts. Build and maintain internal- and external networks (e.g. external suppliers, institutes, universities etc.).

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• MSc. Or equivalent degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science or equivalent field. Candidates with a BSc degree in combination with additional relevant experience will also be considered.
• Minimum of ten years of broad and relevant software and firmware development experience and five years of management or leadership experience.
• Object-oriented architecture design and programming in Java or .NET. Familiarity with MVC is a plus.
• Familiarity with AJAX, Javascript, Json, HTML and CSS.
• Experience in development of applications for mobile devices and markets (iOS, Android and Windows).
• Databases, database programming, both SQL and non-SQL
• Software testing and validation techniques.
• Design/programming experience using C/C++ embedded software. 
• Experience with communication buses, e.g. I2C, SPI, TCPIP, CAN bus etc., Ethernet controllers.
• Experience working with robust change management and release tools/processes such as MKS/PTC, DOORS, Collaborator, Confluence, Bitbucket, JIRA, etc…
• Experienced working in an Agile SW development environment and with corresponding issue tracking tools. Knowledge of Atlassian suite is a plus.
• Willingness to travel.
