Embedded Software Engineer

The GECC Embedded Software engineer will be part of a team of hardware and software engineers integrating and developing innovative electronic control systems for consumer appliances. The focus areas are user interfaces, human machine interfaces, and power conversion electronics. As an integral member of the Global Connectivity & Technology (GC&T) team, the successful candidate will provide innovative and robust software solutions from conceptualization phase through production and across all product lines.

Key operational responsibilities

  • Develop embedded software in full alignment with Electrolux global strategy and guide lines for electronics
  • Analysis of product requirements specifications
  • Work and collaborate in an international environment with multiple global and regional product teams, competence centers and experts
  • Creation of software design documentation including preparation of necessary artifacts required for safety approvals/certifications
  • Perform functional tests of firmware modules, subsystems and applications using standardized software test tools as well as defined test plans
  • Follow the embedded firmware market, and identify new technologies and tools for firmware development
  • Working inside an Agile framework with process partners to rapidly develop new user interface concepts for consumer research/testing and then realizing these concepts in a production control system
  • Reports to Manager of Electronics Competence Center and functionally to the GECC HMI/UI Competency Leader

Minimum Qualification

Required Minimum Qualifications

  • BSc degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science or equivalent field
  • Minimum five years of software development experience, particularly in the area of user interface development and human machine interface development
  • Strong design and programming experience using C/C++ embedded software
  • Experience with 32bit Cortex and development environments/tools
  • Experience using Segger emWin Graphics Library to develop embedded GUI applications for TFT displays
  • Experience with communication buses, e.g. I2C, SPI, TCPIP, CAN bus etc., Ethernet controllers
  • Experience in developing user interfaces that incorporate LED, LCD, and TFT display technologies
  • Experience developing human machine interfaces utilizing capacitive touch technologies
  • Software testing and validation techniques
  • Experience with RTOS based embedded systems is a plus
  • Experience programming in C++ and Qt (QML/Javascript) for embedded systems is a plus
  • Object oriented architecture design and programming in Java or .NET. Familiarity with MVC is a plus
  • Background in software design patterns
  • Basic knowledge of UML
  • Experience working with robust change management and release tools/processes such as MKS/PTC, DOORS, Collaborator, Confluence, Bitbucket, JIRA, etc.
  • Understanding of Continuous Integration/Delivery/Deployment
  • Experience working in an Agile SW development environment and with corresponding issue tracking tools. Knowledge of Atlassin suite is a plus
  • Experience with regulatory approval testing and processes is a plus
