The Firmware Engineer will be primarily responsible for the design, development, and maintenance of embedded electronics devices in household appliances such as dishwashers, tumble dryers, and washers.  As an integral member of the CX Care Technologies, Electrical Electronics Team, located in Charlotte – North Carolina; the engineer will provide expertise in firmware development from the conceptualization through production phases.


  • Testing and evaluating firmware operating in the system.
  • Recommending design modifications to eliminate bugs or to improve the functional performance. Those recommendations should be primarily focused on safety, economy, reliability, sustainability, and quality.
  • Assures firmware design quality by executing, analyzing, collecting, and summarizing technical activities related to firmware testing on finished products or system validation.
  • Support the development of the printed circuit board assembly processes by collaborating in the design or modification of functional validation testing procedures used for the final verification of printed circuit board assemblies.

Minimum Qualification


  • BS/MS degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering or Computer Science.
  • Minimum of 5 years of working experience with real time embedded electronics using 8-bit, 16-bit, or 32-bit microcontrollers.
  • Three or more years of experience writing software in C/C++ in embedded environment.
  • Experience of generating firmware specification from product specification and/or existing codebases.
  • Proficient with one of Renesas, NXP, or ST controllers, and expert with development environment/tools.
  • Experience in test/debug firmware with oscilloscope, debuggers, emulators, and logic analyzer.
  • Understanding of RS-232 and packet-based communication protocols.
  • Experience with design and/or maintenance of capacitive touch technology codes.
  • Must have ability to quickly understand existing codebases and rework as needed.
  • Knowledge and experience in systems integration and the interactions between hardware and software design are desired.
  • Familiar with Six Sigma methodology applicable to product engineering (DOE planning, statistical tools, sample planning, etc.)
  • Knowledge and experience with hardware design is a plus.
  • Knowledge and experience with white-box testing, static code analysis, and IEC/UL60730 safety class B software are desired.
