THE GLOBAL ENGINEER PROGRAM EXPERIENCE

The Electrolux Global Engineer Program (GEP) is a proactive initiative that brings together young engineering talent across various functions and global offices of Electrolux. This program is for you, who are interested in a global, hands-on experience in an intercultural setting with the goal of securing global employment opportunities within the company upon a successful completion of the internship.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Plant Simulation Engineer will join the Global Manufacturing Engineering team for Electrolux Food Preservation. The Engineer is responsible for developing discrete event simulation studies with Siemens Plant Simulation. The Engineer will gather data with several stakeholders, develop both 2D and 3D models, analyze simulation results, present and document them. The Engineer provides globally/cross product line support to other Simulation Engineers, drives common Plant Simulation solutions/libraries and support the rollout of Plant Simulation and Teamcenter.

A REGULAR DAY AT WORK

To contribute to the team goals, you will:

• Be the global reference person for Plant Simulation within Food Preservation Manufacturing Engineering/Operations
• Interact with Manufacturing Engineers, Material Handling teams, suppliers, R&D, and other players in order to understand simulation objectives, gather data and information, validate models, and share results
• Develop discrete event simulation models with Siemens Plant Simulation in order to:
  o To develop and optimize layout
  o Implement and optimize material flow logic and standards
  o Determinate and implement next steps to drive further assembly process automation projects 
  o Supporting OEE increase on existing systems 
  o Increase resource utilization, quality, production efficiency
  o Reduce investment, inventories and cycle time in planning for new production
  o Optimize the system dimensions, including buffer sizes, material handling, production sequencing/schedules
  o Better line planning and allocation
  o Creation of analysis for material flow and warehouse logistics for a better visualization and reduction of project risks
  o Check bottlenecks between warehouse and product distribution
• Develop statistical analysis for both input and output data
• Assess required model detail level opposed to project objectives
• Extensive computer programming work to reach appropriate detail level, create custom logic, and develop libraries
• Support implementation of digital process design and simulation, using Plant Simulation 
• Support the organizations and departments for Industry 4.0 in the area of logistics and production
• Understand the different architectures and platforms in Food Preservation

YOUR EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS

You are a bachelor or graduating student or recent graduate of a master on Industrial Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Engineering, Computer Sciences, Software development and programming, Logistics.
You have advanced English skills and preferably beginner Portuguese and/or intermediate German

You have experience or exhibit skills on the following: 

o Plant Simulation (Siemens) or similar Discrete Event Simulation software
o Teamcenter (Siemens) or any equivalent PLM software
o 3D and 2D CAD (preferred NX Siemens) 

• Knowledge in statistics
  o Random variables and their properties
  o Estimation of statistics, input distributions
  o Experimental design

• Computer programming
  o Knowledge in any computer programming language, preferably object oriented 
  o Knowledge in class management, inheritance, and modular development 

• Knowledge in Production Engineering,  Process Automation and Logistics

• Experience with computer programming and statistical analysis

• Value Stream Mapping

• Strong Word, PowerPoint and Excel skills. Windows Operation Systems.

• Understanding of the part geometry and current processes needed for logistic strategy

• Ability to work in a Matrix Organization and virtual Teams 

• MySQL

• PeopleSoft

• Programming skills: C++, HTML, Java, Perl/Cgi-bin
