Electrolux is currently looking for a talented and highly creative Cross-Product Design Manager who will be part of the North American Major Appliances design team. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading Cross-Product and Design Quality initiatives for the North America division of Electrolux. The position will be located in Charlotte, NC.
Design is a global function with around 200 design professionals in seven locations worldwide. We are a diverse studio with a great mix of experience and emerging talent. This new role of Cross-Product Design Manager has been created to encourage a strategic and holistic approach to the development of full-line initiatives for Frigidaire, Electrolux and other key brands for the American market. The role also holds responsibility for the evaluation and development of consistent standards for Design Quality including Appeal, Usability, and Fit, Feel & Finish.
You will be responsible for guiding and inspiring a design team to create class-leading products and experiences for our users across multiple appliance platforms with particular focus on a consistent Visual Brand Language (VBL) and Design Quality (DQ).


  • Manage and develop a team of Designers and Model Makers in the creation of consistent VBL and DQ for major appliances, North America
  • Leverage consumer insight research and design quality assessments to back up assertions, make recommendations and drive actions
  • Use creative facilitation techniques and take the lead with your partners to understand the problem space and develop a shared vision of the future
  • Strive to synthesize and summarize design requirements from mixed and potentially conflicting inputs
  • Advocate a “Full-Suite Mentality” for the user, the retail experience and the home experience in conversations with cross-disciplinary teams
  • Foster a culture of feedback, continuous improvement and setting standards for executional and operational excellence
  • Evaluate and develop EMANA’s Design Quality assessment capability utilizing both internal and external resources
  • Understand the competitive landscape to identify additional business opportunities
  • Ensure consistent messaging and quality standards for each VBL in relation to CMF and trend analysis work
  • Develop and deliver measurable design quality metrics from a consumer perspective for product appeal, usability and Fit Feel Finish

Minimum Qualification

  • BA/BS or MA/MS in a relevant design field
  • Minimum 5 years of experience as an Industrial Design practitioner
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in team leadership


  • Great communicator (verbal, written, and visual)
  • Resourceful, self-driven, organized and able to motivate others
  • Outstanding knowledge of product design, engineering design, material technology, visual brand identity and prototyping (physical and virtual)
  • Expertise in the development of product families and Visual Brand Language as part of an end to end consumer experience
  • Experience with design thinking techniques and leading innovation exercises
  • Ability to present designs, drive consensus and negotiate trade-offs effectively
  • Exceptional collaborator with product planning, innovation, engineering, user research, marketing and all facets of design to ensure smooth and consistent product development process
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple projects
  • Experience presenting design vision and strategy at a senior level
  • Experience working with a design strategy firm or consultancy
  • Experience working with global brands and clients across different categories
