Kinston Wastewater Technician
The candidate will be responsible for the daily operation, maintenance and troubleshooting of our Industrial Chemical Wastewater pretreatment facility and support equipment. Duties will include all aspects of daily operations including regulatory compliance, record keeping & reporting, equipment maintenance, and sample collection & testing. The candidate will be expected to interface with the Environmental/Safety department, facility maintenance personnel, and externally with vendors & municipal officials to ensure compliance with the IUP permit and proper functions of the wastewater pretreatment facility.
Qualifications and Experience:
An Industrial Wastewater Treatment License is preferred, but not required.
Associates Degree or Equivalent work experience with supplemental training in industrial wastewater operations.
At least 3 years experience in chemical wastewater treatment operations.
Candidate should be experienced in operation of wastewater treatment equipment (pumps, sensors, pH meters, etc.), general wastewater chemistry, safe chemical handling procedures, and wastewater testing/sampling.
Candidate should have forklift operator experience, Hazardous Materials (HAZMAT) training and chemical handling experience.
Candidate must have good communications skills and general computer skills (e.g. Excel, Word & Lotus Notes) are a plus.
Candidate must have the ability to work independently and in a hot atmosphere wearing protective clothing and respiratory protection.
Moderate to heavy lifting is a requirement of the position.
Candidate must be willing to work all shifts, weekends, holidays, overtime and should be available on call 24/7.
