Product Care Engineer
Initiate and drive cost reduction projects for Fabric Care Products in order to deliver cost saving as company target and maintain cost competitiveness of products in the market.
A Typical Day
Initiate cost reduction idea, study the feasibility/business case and finally make it happen
Perform teardown/benchmarking of competitors products to find out opportunities for cost reduction
Prepare prototype sample components/product for feasibility check
Evaluate business case of project (saving, investment, payback)
Set proper project time plan, resources/budget plan to deliver result on time within limited budget
Follow up job/activities progress according to project time plan
Periodically update project status and report to team leader or manager
Prioritize works to deliver the result as the committed due date
Lead a meeting with related team such as Purchasing, QA, Engineering, Production, MRP to ensure everyone align the direction and clearly understand the status/situation of project
Collaborate with Purchasing, Engineering and supplier to get the sample component/material for validation and approval
Collaborate with QA and R&D Lab to set proper test plan agreement in order to optimize budget and resources
Understand technical test results to take decision to move on project and final approval for implementation in production
Analyze root cause of problem and provide technical solutions by collaboration with RDM/GDM, suppliers and other involved functions
Create/modifications drawing according to change point of cost reduction project
Perform engineering change process works such as ECR, ECN and Part Approval
Collaborate with supply chain team to manage stock of components and preparing proper phase in/phase out plan
Collaborate with Production and MRP to set plan for build product for DVT/MVT/Pilot in production line
Communicate with concern teams who will get impact from engineering change to make them aware before implementation of project
Support general activities of Product Care team or R&D team
Who You Are
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or related field.
Experienced in Component or Product Development for Home Appliances industry at least 3 years.
Experienced in Cost Reduction or Value Engineering
Knowledge of Engineering material, Commercial material and Mechanical Design Principle.
Knowledge of CAD 2D-3D, CAE Simulation
Knowledge of Engineering Change process, Drawing revision and BOM Structure
Knowledge of Manufacturing processes, Metal stamping, Plastic injection molding
Excellence in project planning and actively follow up
Contributes actively in team activities, sharing experience and ideas
Builds productive relationships within and outside of own team
Progressive analytical and systematic approach to problem solving.
Strong team work oriented person with leadership skills.
