The Quality Engineer will play a key role in developing and supporting all quality operations within a specified area including, training employees, leading area safety, meeting area quality goals, reducing rejected materials, proactively coordinating the QCP and IPCP, identifying ergonomic issues, and assuring area preparedness. Must lead by example in all areas above and must effectively communicate quality issues (and solutions) with their manager, employees, and cross-functional teams.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and implement in process control plans and Poke Yoke’s.
  • Daily proactive engagement with operations leadership, utilizing EMS principles of Plan, Do, Check, Act.
  • Support the Quality Department by leading in the development of PPAP’s, QCP’s, IPCP’s, part verification gauges and fixtures, and visual management tools.
  • Encourage open communication and employee engagement to help improve employee morale and quality results.
  • Utilize fact-based decision making and uses problem solving skills to improve area performance.
  • Assure all needed equipment is in the area for the employees and the equipment is ready for the following shift each day.
  • Seek all available resources to support area activities and assists employees in a timely manner.
  • Monitor and maintain and communicates all quality issues and employee related issues and seeks support when needed on all issues that are critical.
  • Obtain data to determine internal or supplier quality responsibility and report on all findings
  • Coordinate with operations team to assign and release hold orders in a timely manner.

Minimum Qualification

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE (MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS):

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Engineering, from a 4 year college or university
  • 2-3 years of experience in process improvement, quality and analysis in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience in utilizing Six Sigma and Lean methodologies to drive process improvements. Green Belt certification preferred
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, Auto CAD, and PowerPoint presentations
