Electrolux is currently looking for a talented and highly creative Senior Design Manager: Digital Experience who will be part of the North American Major Appliances design team. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading UX, UI and Usability initiatives for the North America division of Electrolux. The position will be located in Charlotte, NC.

Design is a global function with around 200 design professionals in seven locations worldwide. We are a diverse studio with a great mix of experience and emerging talent. This new matrix role, Senior Design Manager: Digital Experience, will report operationally to the Head of Design in North America and functionally to the Global Digital Design Director in Stockholm, Sweden. 

You will be responsible for guiding and inspiring a design team to create engaging experiences for our users across multiple appliance platforms with particular focus on the digital interface including UI, remote, touch, sound, and gesture control for connected home appliance solutions. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and deliver a digital strategy for the design experience across all product lines and sectors
  • Manage and develop a team of UI, UX, and Usability Designers in the creation of outstanding consumer experiences for major appliances, North America
  • Maintain a close working relationship with Global Connectivity & Technology (GC&T) and Consumer Insight (CI) Teams for digital strategy
  • Leverage consumer insight research and usability findings to back up assertions, make recommendations and drive actions
  • Use creative facilitation techniques and take the lead with your partners to understand the problem space and develop a shared vision of the future
  • Strive to synthesize and summarize design requirements from mixed and potentially conflicting inputs
  • Advocate the user experience in conversations about digital and interface design with cross-disciplinary teams
  • Foster a culture of feedback, continuous improvement and setting standards for executional and operational excellence
  • Evaluate and develop EMANA’s usability research capability utilizing both internal and external resources
  • Understand the competitive landscape to identify additional business opportunities relating to digital transformation and connectivity
  • In collaboration with the design management team, develop and deliver measurable design quality metrics from a user perspective for digital appeal and usability

Minimum Qualification

  • BA/BS or MA/MS in a relevant design field, or equivalent professional experience
  • Minimum 7 years’ experience of digital experience (product and service) design
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience of team leadership

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Highly proficient at digital experience modeling techniques; mapping user behaviors across an end-to-end journey and identifying critical moments that transform the experience and drive value
  • Strong knowledge of user-centered design, interaction design, UX, information architecture, visual/graphic design and usability standards and practices
  • Expertise in the development of connected products and user interfaces as part of an end to end consumer experience
  • Experience developing prototypes and leading innovation exercises
  • Ability to present designs, drive consensus and negotiate trade-offs effectively
  • Exceptional collaborator with other subject areas such as product planning, innovation, ownership solutions, R&D, user research, marketing and all facets of design to ensure smooth product development process
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple projects
  • Experience designing digital interfaces for products in the home environment and/or in retail services relating to food or home products
  • Experience working with a design strategy firm or consultancy
  • Experience working with global brands and clients across different categories
  • Experience using Agile methodologies
  • Great communicator (verbal, written, and visual)
  • Resourceful, self-driven, organized and able to motivate others
