The Electronic Technology Organization (ETO) part of Global R&D Food Preparation is looking for a Systems Team Leader. You will be responsible for the management of the Electronics Systems Group which organizes plans and executes electrical controls system projects from marketing concept to production.  This process involves the translation of consumer needs into technical specifications, working directly with hardware and software groups, estimating and acquiring Systems resources, and development of technical specifications and test plans.  

Key Operational Responsibilities

• Apply expert knowledge of applicable technology and industry/company standards to investigate new technologies, methods and test procedures.
• Supervise and mentor engineers, technicians or interns on a project, task basis or group basis. 
• Lead and grows the systems competency by coaching, training, interviewing, hiring, managing personnel development plans, weekly group meetings, etc.
• Ensure product design re-use from existing products and modifies existing design plans as input to new products.
• Exhibit appropriate professional behavior including positive attitude, sense of urgency, independent judgment, teamwork, creative thinking and personal integrity to achieve group/department/corporate goals and objectives.
• Contribute to or execute initiatives for continuous improvement of products and processes within the Electronics Technology Organization (ETO).
• Continuous improvement of own skills and competence and strives to be world class in Electronic Systems Design engineering.
• Structurally use experiences from the past to continuously improve products and processes. 
• Perform special projects as directed by the Department Manager.

The Systems group:

• Is responsible for engineering documentation including block diagrams, schematics, fabrication and assembly drawings, component drawings, specifications, manuals and other customer documentation, development and validation test procedures, Engineering Change Notices and manufacturing procedures.
• Oversees the development of product technical specifications based off of a variety of requirement inputs including consumer, marketing and industrial design. Oversees test and validation plans. Ensures execution and direction of product testing.
• Provides support and training on new products to other departments and customers as required. 
• Estimates task durations and assists with the preparation of project schedules and product cost estimate including costed BOM’s.
• Works with outside consultants, suppliers and contract manufacturers to develop and manufacture electronic components and assemblies. 
• Works closely with Purchasing and Quality to investigate, qualify, select and manage electronics suppliers.
• Works closely with manufacturing to ensure the smooth transition of new designs into the production process including support past pilot run and into full manufacturing ramp up.
• Create / Approve specifications and concepts from (regional) project leader.  The Systems Engineering is responsible for higher level (global) specification document or requirements document.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE


• Bachelor/Master degree electronic engineering or equivalent education background.
• Minimum seven years of proven experience in conceiving and developing embedded hardware controls and control systems preferably in a consumer appliance product R&D environment.
• Proven Leadership in small or large group settings.
• Proven understanding of electrical systems.  
• Design/programming experience using C/C++ firmware a distinct plus.
• Experience in designing embedded control systems algorithms.
• An understanding of Labview, Labwindows/CVI, Matlab, and/or Simulink experiences a distinct plus.
• Experience creating technical specifications using UML, state diagrams, class diagrams and user interaction diagrams to.
• Experienced in creation of DFMEAs for control systems.
• Knowledge of schematic and circuit design and layout using ORCAD or similar CAD system a distinct plus.
• Demonstrated track record in supporting all aspects of an electronics manufacturing organization to achieve required production rates.
• Demonstrated track record in managing external suppliers to achieve required levels of quality, performance and delivery of sourced components, assemblies and sub-assemblies.
• Proven experience applying full life cycle “New Product Development” processes in the electronics and mechanical engineering environment.
• Familiar with ANSI, UL, CSA, NEMA and IEC standards especially as they relate to consumer appliance products.
• Strong communications skills both written and oral. Communications with cross-functional (non-engineering) team members is a must.
• Proven track record using industry recognized new-product-design processes for electronic, mechanical and software design.
• Knowledge of best practices and design guidelines for increased noise immunity and reduced emissions.
• Experience with single-sided, double-sided, and multi-layer PCB design.
• Experience designing PCBs with mixed surface mount and thru-hole technologies.
• Strong knowledge of electronics manufacturing processes.
• Ability to work as an integral, contributing member of both domestic and international technical electronics development teams. 
• Knowledge and experience in systems integration and the interactions between hardware and software design.
• Fluent English mandatory.
